A Bigger Offer for A Bigger Free Agency Plan: LA Now Includes Ingram and Stephenson in Davis Trade

If this trade works out, it will allow the Lakers to get another star this July

If we are to believe the initial reports, the New Orleans Pelicans have asked Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac plus a pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.

Now? It’s starting to appear that the Lakers are going all-out just to acquire Davis who has said that he would only sign a contract with one specific team: the Lakers.

The Bigger Offer

If this turns out to be true, then the Lakers are already desperate and frankly, it’s not a bad trade either. Why?

Here’s the latest rumored trade offer that pundits think Magic Johnson and company should throw onto the Pelicans’ table:

  • Kyle Kuzma
  • Brandon Ingram
  • Lonzo Ball
  • Ivica Zubac
  • Lance Stephenson
  • Two unprotected draft picks

And if we are to believe the reports, the Pelicans have made contact with the Lakers in regards with the deal.

While throwing away Kyle Kuzma and Ivica Zubac- two of the Lakers’ currently best-performing players, could hurt the Lakers in the long run, acquiring Anthony Davis from this trade will make things easier for the Purple and Gold.

That and the fact that trading five players will enable the Lakers to get a top 3 player from the free agency come July 1.

And with the amount of talented players who could splash into the free agency, it’s imperative that the Lakers get this trade done.

Fancy a Kyrie-LeBron Reunion?

To begin with, the fact that Klay Thompson reportedly said that he would be interested in signing with the Lakers should the latter will succeed in getting Davis makes the Davis situation bigger than what everyone else thinks. Mind you, Klay Thompson has been rumored to be signing with the Lakers come July 1. There’s also the Kawhi Leonard possibility.

What about a Kyrie Irving-LeBron James reunion in LA?

Kyrie Irving can opt-out of his current contract with the Boston Celtics and join the free agency this year and if we are to believe the rumors, Kyrie Irving is genuinely interested in playing alongside LeBron James in Los Angeles.

If this materializes, losing Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball in the Anthony Davis trade will be worth it because the Lakers would have a new Big 3 in Davis, Irving alongside LeBron James.

While it has been reported that Kyrie Irving got frustrated playing behind LeBron James’ shadow which led to the former getting traded to the Celtics prior to the start of last season, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James do make an unstoppable duo.

Now, imagine an Anthony Davis in the middle.

Mind you, Kyrie Irving is also a close friend of Anthony Davis.
